  Re: Lsynth thoughts.

(...) Yes, the hose color is specified in the LSYTH BEGIN line. I like the new constraint. I'm in favor of it replacing the original LS00.DAT. (...) Kevin (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Part request: Cone 4 x 4 x 3

As I was building set 358 Rocket Base in MLCad I noticed that the Cone 4 x 4 x 3 ((URL) does not exist, not even on the PT. I also want to build trainset 725 in MLCad, which also uses this cone. As I don't own this part myself I can not create it. (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Onion Dome (part 44511) from Orient Expedition sets

Just a post to say I'm working on this. William (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Lsynth thoughts.

(...) Oh yeah, before I forget. I hardcoded the transparent white just to illustrate the axis and the bullseye inside the part. I really think it should be coded in color 16. Then when used, it should be inserted with any transparent color. That way (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Patterns suck!

(...) IMHO a mosaic can't replace true vectors or poligons. regardless of the resolution you will still need an obcene amount of quads to define the shapes. it won't be the giant leap but it would be the small step if the LSC could with a new (...)   Patterns, simplified

(...) I'm inferring that you are talking about converting a scanned image into a pattered subfile for a part? Then, optimally, the process requires the following discrete phases: 1) Someone[1] scans a patterned part at high resolution into an agreed (...)   Re: Patterns suck!

(...) I'm gonna have to look into this again. Vectorizers are cool. Here's some more opensource code (3 URLs) a really nifty description of how to use the potrace vectorizer to generate edges, and the netlib triangulator to create the triangles. (...)   Re: Patterns suck!

(...) Or you could search the net for vectorizer programs like this one. (URL) a free vectorizer with source code. (URL) wonder how hard it would be to modify it to handle color and output ldraw format. Enjoy, Don (20 years ago, 5-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Patterns suck!

(...) That's true. Bmp2dat needs some real edge tracking algorithms instead of just runlength encoding. Something like this. (URL) also needs an autorotate function. Just look for the longest straight line near 90 or 0 degrees and rotate it to (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Patterns suck!  [DAT]

(...) honey bunny, you can't step in and show a model! this thread is about patterned .dat files only. well, I beg your pardon. I might wasn't as clear as I should have been. the discussion will be held at the highest philosophical, meta-physical (...) (20 years ago, 5-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
