That's true. Bmp2dat needs some real edge tracking algorithms instead
of just runlength encoding. Something like this.

It also needs an autorotate function. Just look for the longest
straight line near 90 or 0 degrees and rotate it to exactly 90 or 0
for starters.
But what about patterns made with quad2dat.exe? It's a more manual
procedure, but doesn't that make it better?

IMHO a mosaic can't replace true vectors or poligons. regardless of the resolution you will still need an obcene amount of quads to define the shapes. it won't be the giant leap but it would be the small step if the LSC could with a new (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
