Re: 3823.dat doesn't work well with P/48 primitives

(...) I've gotten this to work, but I'm curious about this as a special case. With the primitives above, I can rotate them about their Y axis to orient them correctly, *or* I can mirror or reflect them across their X and Z axes, to 'flip' them into (...) (22 years ago, 1-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Microscale City - Kehaar

Hey, all! I've just been playing around, trying to learn a little about MLCAD, and liked the microscale stuff by Paul Hertzog and Jeremy Sproat. So I virtually made a few buildings and locations just for fun. Please LMKWYT. Folder's at: (URL) and (...) (22 years ago, 1-Oct-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: 3823.dat doesn't work well with P/48 primitives

(...) Yeah, Sorry, I meant ring. I actually wrote ring the first time then changed it. I guess I should stop thinking so much :) (...) Well, I just have the search path in my program setup to search 'p/48' before it searches 'p' so I'm picking them (...) (22 years ago, 1-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Program Interfacing

(...) You should grab the LDAO source code, it's all handled in one class file. Of course, it's overcomplicated (I never do anything simply). What I did in LDAO was to write the DAT code to a temporary file, then write another temporary LDR/DAT file (...) (22 years ago, 1-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: 3823.dat doesn't work well with P/48 primitives  [DAT]

(...) Uh, you mean *ring* primitive, right? The lines you quoted are all *flat*. I would not use 48 segment primitives on this part - it would be overkill. There do seem to be some incorrect vertices on those polygons. You could replace the polygons (...) (22 years ago, 1-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad)

3823.dat doesn't work well with P/48 primitives  [DAT]

Hi. I'm trying again to BFC CERTIFY some of the parts, and I've noticed some interesting things when working on 3823.dat line by line. When I got down to these lines: 4 16 -36 48 -20 -35.54 48 -22.30 -39.24 48 -23.83 -40 48 -20 4 16 -35.54 48 -22.30 (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad)

searching for dat-file for part x68.dat

I've got the 8461 Williams F1 Team Racer set and there are some of these Technic Liftarm 1x2 - x68.dat parts there. Where can I get the .dat file for that part? I've searched on www.ldraw.org but it is not there. Another queestion; Where can I (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Home-made instrux?

What's the preferred software for generating one's own instructions? I know I've seen it mentioned recently, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Thanks a bunch! Dave! (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: What about a tool that unsorts all parts of a mdel

(...) Uh oh! Doesn't LEGO Creator have an explosion function? They've probably got a patent application in the works for it, so you might as well just give up on that idea. ;^) (...) That one might not be patented yet. Better hash it out before the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: What about a tool that unsorts all parts of a mdel

I've been thinking of a tool that creates an "Exploded View" with empty space between all parts. However a literal interpretation would be quite fun, too. There would be a blast center, and adjustable parameters for part speed, bounce, and amount of (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: What about a tool that unsorts all parts of a mdel

(...) We've talked about this several times before. For example: (URL) as far as I know, nobody has implemented anything yet. It is an interesting topic however, which explains why it comes up every now and again. Perhaps if we pose it as a (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: What about a tool that unsorts all parts of a mdel

(...) If that's what is meant, that would be useful if you need to generate pics at each step with the parts being added during that step. Of course LPub does that for you now so it may not be as big a deal as it once was. If that's not what was (...) (22 years ago, 29-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
