Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) There's not enough contrast within the black pieces. On my monitor it just looks like one large black POOP rather than several black pieces stuck together. LEGO uses a dark grey in their instructions, with a heavy black line to show the (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

  Re: Rendering?

(...) The best (and only?) program to ray-trace LDraw-files is POV-Ray. But you can't open LDraw-files direct into POV-Ray. You have to convert them to .POV-files using L3P. Both programs can be downloaded via (URL) well, Jeroen (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Proposal: New Parts Category for round parts

(...) Thanks for clearing this up, Joshua. (...) How about the other suggestions made by Fredrik and me? ('... and myself'? I never was good at grammar) (...) What about the full-width beams with cross-axle holes in the ends? Are those liftarms or (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Proposal: New Parts Category for round parts

(...) Yes, they are bricks, but they are commonly called 'beams'. (...) Good point. I don't see the open center bricks being called beams. (...) If that was the only anomolous part, I'd be willing to label it a beam. I yield to your superior counter (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: LDRAW crash

(...) That is a known problem with LEdit. Jacob, thanks for adding this to the FAQ. (...) I'm not sure of your exact meaning here, so I'm answering both possible meanings: Yes, if you want to *edit* your part in LEdit, you will need to break it up. (...)   Rendering?

What programs do you guys (or gals) use for rendering (or ray-tracing, whatever the correct terminology is)? I created a model in MLCAD and was trying to find how to generate a rendered image of it. Thanks in advance. Play well. Tim Strutt 8^) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Yes- I'm thinking that I'll do web versions that are optimized for browsing, and a downloadable zip of a more printable version. I'll have to keep the zips off of my site, though. These instructions are about 1Mb total (if I'm recalling (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Yes, that's a hard problem. I really would like numbers, but have yet to find an easy way to do good-looking numbers and have them positioned well. (...) I agree- but MLCAD doesn't easily do this. Would LDraw be better? (...) On anything but a (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Hey- those look pretty darn good! I'll investigate this. The extra shadows from the lighting are still somewhat distracting, but that may be worth it. Thanks! -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Wow- I didn't realize there was a setting for this. I'll check it out. (...) MLCAD has a picture-generation dialog (there's an icon on the toolbar of a camera to bring it up). It lets you choose a few different options. I'm using this to (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)
