  Re: Best sources for tutorials?

(...) G'day Jake, The POV-Ray homepage www.povray.org has links to a ton of resources. These include a multitude of tutorials sites, each one specializing in something different. As well, the POV-Ray people run their own private newserver, much like (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: 12 wide DeLorean Time Machine

Hi, could you post the parts 2994 and 6578 please? they are missing on my system and I don't know where to get them. Thanks, --Michael Bram Lambrecht <bram@cwru.edu> schrieb in im Newsbeitrag: GDB3uG.J1A@lugnet.com... (...) fiberoptics (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.models)

Re: 9V Train track DAT files?

(...) I believe they are yellow because in older LEGO instructions and flyers, the electric contacts on things like plates and wires are shown in yellow. So the other electrical parts modeled in LDraw also use yellow. But IIRC it is a special yellow (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)

Re: 9V Train track DAT files?

(...) Chris, yes, it would be wonderful if you could email me that file. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! Jake -- Jake McKee AFOL LUGNET Member #211 (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)

Re: 9V Train track DAT files?

(...) I found an unofficial straight track model. The weird thing was that it had yellow conductor rails. I changed the color to light gray, and they look good. (Other than the yellow rails, I think that they are excellent models.) I forgot who the (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)

  Best sources for tutorials?

All, Does anyone happen to know of some good references/resources for learning POV-Ray for Windows? I have the basic basics down, but I am starting to wonder more about texture mapping, camera and lighting positions, etc. and can't seem to find a (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  9V Train track DAT files?

Does anyone happen to have a DAT file of any of the 9V train track? Especially the straights, but also curves, switches, and cross overs. Thanks in advance! Jake -- Jake McKee AFOL LUGNET Member #211 (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)

  Re: the color silver

I use this color number: 0x0000017F,it makes more of a chrome than silver when rendered, but it showes as silver in MLCad.Jay Cal used it first and I got it from one of his .dats that I requested from him. it was this car, You can see how the color (...)   Re: MLCAD introductory info

(...) Heh, yeah. Hopefully that step was self-evident. :) Another step I left out is deleting the submodel line from the main model. --Ryan (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: conversion to POVRAY

(...) Not a bad choice. Also consider L3Lab... what I like about it is that you can rotate the model to check for stuff you messed up. Yes, you can do that in MLCad as well but it's good as a double check. (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: the color silver

You can specify the color in MLCad (silver: #383), but it takes on the characteristics of silver only when it's rendered in POV-ray. --Ryan (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  the color silver

Does anybody know how to make the color silver available/work in MLCad? Or is that a POV-Ray thing? Rob McMurray spaceghost0@dellmail.com (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: conversion to POVRAY

(...) Alternatively, I recommend that, if you're going to start with L3P, as I did, your best bet is simply to render the model straight off the page: l3p model.dat and then play around with the POV file within POV-Ray. I'm not especially conversant (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: conversion to POVRAY

(...) I would suggest skipping the learning curve of L3P and download the L3PAddOn program. It is a very nice windows interface that writes out the L3P commands. You can download it at www.Ldraw.org. Jake --- Jake McKee AFOL LUGNET Member #211 (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  conversion to POVRAY

Hi This weekend I have been reading the instructions for L3P, both the ones on the site and the ones that come zipped with the program. I can't work it out Could someone give me a brief, clear guide as to how to use it? Thanks, Tim (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)
