In case anyone out there uses Rhino and want to model parts here's the rough specs: 20 Rhino units = 1 Lego width (i.e. the width of a 1x1 block) 24 Rhino units = 1 Lego height 12 Rhino units = 1 stud diameter 4 Rhino units = 1 stud hieght (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

I highly recommend Fredrik's LDraw-Mode. It will take you a little while to find the Emacs stuff and install it, plus some time to figure out how to bend stuff. But once you make the initial investment it is very easy to create wonderful curving (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

(...) You may want to spring for some more RAM. I recommend at least 256, especially if you're going to be raytracing. hello gents im sad to say my pc hard drive crashed. it was making a loud clicking noise before it crashed. and i lost all my dat files including both the car wash brush holder and axle i did but didnot upload. some time in may ill have a new (...) (24 years ago, 26-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) I don't know Rhino, but what I can say stl2dat can handle ascii and binary stl format. If Rhino can only produce stl data in the positive quadrant, stl2dat can change the origin in the dat file with the -o x y z option. The most tricky point (...) (...) I think it is quite correct of you to add the edge lines where there is sharp corners in the actual part. The ones you did look correctly done to me.
