Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) Looks great--you really caught the essence of the real cat (as seen in the comparison shot) in the pose that you chose to model. Derek (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Prepackaged Lego Mosaic - Color distribution?

(...) I'm planning on getting one of each just to do that very thing and will share the results when it happens. Will probably be 2-4 weeks though so if anyone beats me to it or has them handy then speak up! John #388 (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Prepackaged Lego Mosaic - Color distribution?

Does anyone know the color distribution in the (4) prepackaged mosaic sets? I'm getting antsy to build my custom mosaic, and since they do not appear to be offering custom kits, I thought I'd try to see if the prepackaged sets would suffice. I tried (...)   Minifig sculpture renderings

After building a sculpture of a minifig ((URL) wanted to make more. However, since it could take a while to get enough bricks together, I decided to see what a smaller scale would look like. So I designed an LDraw version: (URL) I'll be able to (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) Yeah, the exaggerated size of the head compared to the body and the little pink cat smile provide the charicature elements, I suppose. (...) LEGO Ringo is a lot better about holding still for photos, it's true. @8^) Our secret for (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) She was very surprised and liked it very much. @8^) It's now residing in her office cubicle. (...) Well, the real cat *was* that size at some point a few years ago, so it could have been a perfect 1:1 model, except he grew up. (...) I didn't (...)   Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) Thanks! It helps to have an extremely cute cat as your model. @8^) (...) You mean, like, if I ever finish illustrating the Bible? Heh, heh, heh... (...) It was really weird for me to think about how to model a large three-dimensional object. (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) I think it's a darn pretty nifty likeness. Just enough caricature to make it interesting. But I want to know, how did you get RealRingo(tm) to pose alongside LegoRingo(tm)?? We can never photograph our cats, they won't hold still long enough. (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) What a great idea! What did she think of it? <<snip URL's>> (...) I was blown away *before* I saw the real thing, but it's even more amazing when you see how close it is to the original (however not in 1:1 scale :-) ). Also, what did the cat (...)   Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) Brendan, That's really cute! If you ever leave .build.ancient, you have a real future in .build.sculpture. Bruce (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

For my girlfriend's birthday I made her a LEGO version of our cat so she could take him to the office while the real cat stays at home: (URL) a couple comparison shots: (URL) me know what you think. -The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.sculpture) !!

  Red M&M guy

I think we've all seen this guy before. Red M&M was built from a smaller M&M dispenser we have. Took only about a week to complete. Unsure how many bricks. I hope you enjoy. (URL) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.announce, lugnet.build, lugnet.build.sculpture)

  Super Mario Bros. sculptures

I just worked up a sculpture of the fire flower from Super Mario World. And, seeing as I still haven't taken it apart, I took some photos of the mushroom I made over a year ago, but never photographed. (URL) not used Brickshelf since before the (...)   Re: Lego Mosaic 3443 - Build Your Own - Gone?

I do not know what LEGO's current plans are for Brick-O-Lizer, but I will see what I can find out. eric harshbarger (...) (22 years ago, 25-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: Lego Mosaic 3443 - Build Your Own - Gone?

Crud. I just finished my .NET app that: 1) Converts any size color JPG to the grayscale mosaic palette. 2) Overlays a moveable, sizeable composite frame (1x1,2x2,2x3,etc..) over the image and crop the image to the frame size. 3) Allows you to (...)   Re: Lego Mosaic 3443 - Build Your Own - Gone?

(...) Yeah, I just noticed that this week as well. Bad time for that to be my new favorite LEGO hobby. The build-your-own 3443 with the Brickolizer was still available outside the US (I forget which country) so you could still use it to generate (...)   Lego Mosaic - Build Your Own - Gone?

I can't find the "Build Your Own" Mosaic link on the Lego site. I only see the 4 pre-packaged mosaics. Is it gone? Are they not offering the do-it-yourself service any more? I have a 6 panel Legolas Mosaic, ready to go! ---Will (22 years ago, 24-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: New sculpture: Maneki Neko (Japanese good luck cat)

(...) Congrats on the house! I've built a few town things for the BayLTC layout, but I've had trouble getting a sculpture idea to take form. I recently acquired a big tub of used miscellaneous LEGO, mostly basic bricks, and that was what got me (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: New sculpture: Maneki Neko (Japanese good luck cat)

(...) I haven't had builder's block--just havne't had the time to work on my LEGO projects (in escrow on a house, don't move until March 8). But one of the only things NOT packed is my LEGOs :) (...)   Re: New sculpture: Maneki Neko (Japanese good luck cat)

(...) Thanks!! It's not as poseable as one of your mecha but one could replace the arms with arms in a different pose perhaps? hehe... --Bill. (22 years ago, 23-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)
