  butt-to-butt connections

I'm soliciting solutions to a not-unfamiliar SNOT-construction quandry: What's the best way to attach brown bricks butt-end to butt-end (the ends opposite the studs) securely, using only brown pieces that are readily available (i.e. available in (...)   Re: Peak Diesel Engine (was Re: BNSF new paint)

(...) Thanks :-) I particularly like the fact that the effect is easier to achieve with Lego in 8mm scale than in HO or OO in 3.5mm or 4mm scale. Using SNOT with grille tiles gives a finer grille than just alternating plates, and there's some relief (...) (20 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.schleim)

  Re: Mediterranean Windmill

(...) I usually do that too. I also think it would be cool if Brickshelf could pull up a thumbnail from lower down when a folder just contains further folders. Anyway, what's odd about that picture is there's something missing from the thumbnail. If (...) (20 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.schleim)

  Re: Mediterranean Windmill

(...) <big snip> Jason, the windmill is really cool. When I visit a Brickshelf gallery, I usually click on the "Up" menu, just to take a sneak pick on other projects, pictures, etc. I did it on your gallery, and I saw my train station floor in (...)   Re: New MOC - fright car from the middle of the last century

(...) My head is spinning from these techniques. Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing the details. later, James Mathis (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.loc.de, lugnet.build.schleim)

  Re: Mediterranean Windmill

(...) I'm not sure if you mean it's too big or too small - I'd say it's pretty close for minifigs! I saw several on the island of different sizes. This would count as one of the largest, but size of this style varies depending on where you go. Some (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.schleim)

  Re: Mediterranean Windmill

Hello! When I was browsing BrickShelf and I saw this windmill it was crying "Don Quijote!" to me. :-) That's a cool building, both in terms of building techniques and in terms of realism. It's not exactly minifig scale, though, is it? Bye Jojo (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.schleim)

  Mediterranean Windmill

This is a windmill based on one I photographed in Fuerteventura¹. I made it a while ago and tried to photograph it then, but these pictures are a bit better.   Re: Cornered roofs

(...) '+lugnet/building -mecha' summary option would be nice. I'll add that to my wish list under a '+recent -bionicle' browse option on brickshelf. Anyway, I'll try to take some pictures. But, the general idea is to have the top half of your roof (...) (20 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.schleim)

Re: New MOC - fright car from the middle of the last century

(...) Hi John, I haven't been completly out of building, but I have been somewhat bored by trains and I felt under pressure at the same time, since the bar is that high in the meantime. I would never like to do a creation that is under average in (...) (20 years ago, 8-Feb-05, to lugnet.loc.de, lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

(...) Well, it is about time! You are a schleimer and a (URL) schlacker> :-) As for the MOC, I say, "Wie schön!" Your delicate schleiming creates a very elegant and realistic MOC. Ganz gut. (...) I dunno. *I* think the most difficult part of building one of these is saving up digger buckets till you have enough for a roof! Nice build. Spotlighted. Thanks for sharing! XFUT trains... (20 years ago, 8-Feb-05, to lugnet.loc.de, lugnet.build.schleim, lugnet.trains)

Re: New MOC - fright car from the middle of the last century

(...) Thanks for your feedback James! Maybe the best thing about these doors is: they really work and can be opened. www.brickshelf.com/g...opened.jpg The second waggon which I built last weekend is missing that.....   New MOC - fright car from the middle of the last century

Dear Schleimers, after a break of nearly 18 month, I am proud to present my first new MOC from the train theme. As usual a lot of SNOT-technique is used to bring details into the boxy design of this typical fright car from the middle of the last (...)   A different kind of SNOT.

Can you SNOT-build w/o SNOT-elements? Can an entire MOC be built with ordinary bricks, plates, and slopes without a single stud pointing up? Especially a house? If you want to find out, then I invite you to the House Of Schleim! It's a house, but (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: 9 ft Television Tower

The tower is nice and smooth, but then the railing supports aren't. Maybe try putting a 1x2 tile on the (...) (20 years ago, 13-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.schleim, lugnet.technic, FTX)

SNIPPY Long time no build! Newer builders like Matthew and myself are in awe of you. What more is there to say? It's all fantastic. Some highlights for me have to be the curvature of the top section- so hard to achieve. The best thing is that youve (...)
