Hi all, I have added a page to my website containing a few examples of mosaics that can be made out of LEGO or ministeck (mainly ministeck-enthousiasts have asked me about it). I forgot to make one very important remark: Not everybody uses the same RGB colour values: this may lead to entirely different results, even if the same algorythm was used. Sometimes it seems better to alter the RGB values slightly. I thought of (...) (21 years ago, 13-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

i must admit that i am not an expert at dithering. i have made improvements to Briksaic so it gives more accurate results. i took the CameronDiaz picture and ran it through Bricksaic to compare the results with Maarten's results. Before I started writing a program to create mosaics from my own pictures, I needed lots of information on "how to reduce the colour palette of an image to a custom colour palette". (...) Maybe -first of all- we need a good definition of "dithering": Your left image shows no dithering at all. I see a similar conversion method as the one I used on the mosaic of (URL) my children>. I simply divide the total image in X fields of (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

Maarten, My mosaics are more than just a dithering of the 5 grayscale lego colors. In MLCAD, using a dithering of the 5 colors, I create a palette of 9 colors that I feel tricks the eye into seeing more shades, and therefore a clearer image. Here's (...) My mosaic is really hanging (it doesn't fall apart thanks to the frame), so I can easily lift it off the "hooks" and take it with me. If you have no intention at all (...)
