  Messerschmitt BF-109 "Emil"
 
For my next model, I chose the Messerschmitt BF-109 Emil. I have to give thanks to Shaun Sullivan and Gary Thomas; Sullivan for inspiring the use of screwdrivers as machine guns, and Thomas for inspiring the blended insignia. Thanks, you two! (now (...) (...) the same way as the original, the shape is about right, which is very hard to do. Good idea to use that Star Wars canopy. I like the cross on the wings - but I challenge you to put one on the fuselage as well... (SNOT plates would do it, and (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) The Star Wars canopy isn't entirely accurate. The BF 109's front windshield was a lot steeper then the SW canopy's is. I honestly don't think that, at this scale, a side-opening canopy is even possible. Fuselage crosses? I'd have to change the (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Here's a quick mock-up of a fuselage cross I've been planning to put on my own Bf-109 in progress. It keeps the fuselage small, and rounded. Rather than have the tiles on top, one might even get away with 1x2 plates-with-center-stud, and a 1xn (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) into the angled slope of the tail boom of the Emil. If you look at a couple of the real pictures, you'll note it extends straight from the cockpit, angling upwards from the bottom.
