Glad to have been a help, I spent some more time on it the other day, but I
couldn't find a design that was compact, and worked, glad you found a
solution though!

Can't wait to see the final product!

Here's my idea, use this helicopter windscreen:
http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6482
and position it so that the two stud indentations are facing forward, or 90
degrees almost, for the round thing on the side, use a 4 x 4 dish attached
to something, and it will hold the general shape,
Then plug the guns in to the bottom of the cockpit,

I was able to get the helicopter windscreen to work the way you suggested -
thanks!

Instead of the 4x4 dish, though, I used the "Windscreen 5 x 2 x 1 &
2/3": http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/search.cgi?q=6070
I was able to mount it using SNOT techniques at about a 60 degree angle so that
the "bend" is at the widest point.  The overall shape is a hexagon.  You'll see
when I post the pics of the finished product...

Another tricky bit was the observation window under the nose.  I used the same
type of windscreen, mounted upside-down.

I'm waiting on a BrickBay order (from Australia, so who knows when it'll get
here), and then hopefully I can get to the point where I will feel comfortable
posting pictures.

(...) My solution swivels, but doesn't pivot up and down. I figured that was just too hard to do in Lego. --Bill. (23 years ago, 22-Sep-01, to lugnet.build.military)
