  MOC - Autobot Bitstream

Hey all, Finally, I have something new in the way of mecha :) For some reason, I'm on a huge Transformers kick lately. I've been seeing all of these cool Lego renditions, but it's been so long since one of them actually *transformed*; I figured I'd (...) Wow, check that out! Look at all the bendy and hindgy parts! Cool, look at the way everything flips and folds- cool. Dang you say 3 hours or so build time! Your a genious! I dig the colors. White, Black, Red. nice. The Grey head with the decals is (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC - Autobot Bitstream

(...) Hey, thanks for the compliments. Yeah, I like the color scheme too - I knew the main body was going to be red, but the headlights surprised me. I had wanted something in trans-yellow or -antifreeze, but I tried the white curves and loved it. (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC - Autobot Bitstream

(...) Thanks! Yeah, I agree that Lego and Transformers go together perfectly. It's surprising to me just how few models there are out there. I mean, there are tons of transforming creations out there, but where are all the Transformers creations? (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Woof! Very smooth. Like you say, who knows what kind of car that is, who cares! It looks cool enough. Dig the way the legs come apart and then the poses, Great! Can't say I'd cut my peices, but that's me. This turned out great! Mark (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

More than meets the eye! Very cool. Transforming models is such a cool challenge. Yours works well in both car and robot modes. Side point: You know, I could never figure out if the song went "Robots in disguise" or "Robots in the skys". "Disguise" (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC - Autobot Bitstream

This is a total gas....I can't believe you that the car and robot modes look so much like, well, a car and a robot. Man, Hasbro can't even do that with free-form molds half the time! Excellent! Cheers, -Gil (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC - Autobot Bitstream

(...) Thanks! Yeah, the cutting itself is pretty hard to bring myself to do. It's a good thing, too, otherwise I'd have all sorts of custom parts laying around :) I do make sure I absolutely need to mod before I do anything drastic - I spent lots of (...)   Re: MOC - Autobot Bitstream

(...) Thanks Bruce. I've always loved the challenge of transforming, and with enough experience in mecha I've learned to parse the transformation into single joints ahead of time and figure out how to build around them. It's a whole lot easier than (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC - Autobot Bitstream

(...) Thanks, Gil! You know, I hadn't even thought of that. It is hard to get both the robot and car modes to look good. It sounds crazy even to me, but I think Bitstream's look is due entirely to my spending too much time looking at David Willis' (...) (21 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
