mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
here's the second mech i've built. it sort of started the whole "articulation points" debate. i still don't know how many articulation points there are. perhaps someone can lmk. gotta give credit to gla-gla and sun yun for design inspirations as (...)      WOW! Is this the same person building!?1? :-D I Can't believe it! This is crazy! Dang! This is the biggest leap in building skill within two mecha I have ever seen! You have progressed SO much since your last mecha...wow (don't take that the wrong (...) (22 years ago, 15-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
thanks for the compliment. to be truthful, i've had about a year or so between models to do a lot of research. also, i didn't just kick this one out over a weekend--i have a wife and two kids that take most of my time. i started gunjin in mid (...)      coming from the master, i am profoundly honored. you also did a fantastic job on the rttdd. not only is it an original idea, but you emulated the form of a cat very nicely. i can only hope to be competition for you. good luck, and may the best (...)         Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Anne Carasik
Wow. That's sweet. Btw, is there a Gundam influence in your designs? Not by the head, but more by the colour and leg design. Very impressive :) -Anne (...)          Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
as a matter of fact, there is a large gundam influence on this model. a lot of design influence came from a hobbyjapan magazine that featured 6 different conversions of the rx-79 (g) gudam "master grade" model from bandai. i decided to go with the (...)         Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Tony Knaak
Jason Coronado, I must say that is a VERY SWEET mecha. You did an amazing job with that gla-glaish chasis. The legs are by far the nicest and most attractive section. The flat planes and angles look really nice. The head is very similar to the Zaku (...) (22 years ago, 16-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

All on the Mechastruct site —Tony Knaak
I know it a bad thing to reply to oyur own message, but I forgot to mention that the Gunjin, as well as the Butch and Mighty Mech are all on the site now. out (...) (22 years ago, 16-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
you are correct in that assessment. the head does look like a zaku. in fact, the mouthpiece/hose assembly i got from sun yun's zaku. that was the last part of the head i added (with reservation). i would have avoided that part and went for the (...)         Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —James Harkness
Cool Mech. Looks like it came straight of a gundam episode. (22 years ago, 16-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Matt Hein
(...) Incredibly awesome entry. Kind of compact, yet imposing. I like how you included plenty of articulation to make it posable, provided, makes for a nice aspect to any mech, per se. Exemplary. Great job. Peace out, <<_Matt Hein_>> Fellow lego (...) (22 years ago, 16-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
it's interesting how you pointed out the "compact" look. to take it one step further, it's not only compact, but fairly basic in design and appearance. there's very little "fringe" parts, so detail was not a major priority for me. in fact, i tried (...)         Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Ryan Wilhelm
(...) Mechastruct is finally filling in. The Gunjin looks like a Zaku and an RX-79 got combined, with the RX's guns and colors, and a zaku chassis and armor style. Every time I look at one of these, it almost makes me want to scrap all my (...) (22 years ago, 16-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
oooh...zaku and rx-79 hybrid! good call! i never looked at it that way, although the design is purely accidental. i've done several bandai gundam models including the ms-06a zaku II and one of the (g) gundams (i forget which one) so it's possible (...)    Hey there jason! I saw this yesterday but only got around to replying today! I like the twin rifles on that new beast and the shapes that you got going are excellent! I can't wait tosee what you do next! (...) snip (22 years ago, 17-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: mechastruct entry: AV-05 Gunjin —Jason Coronado
thanks for the compliment, tim. the rifles are a little classic in shape, but my favorite thing about them is that they can be mounted on the backpack. as for the shapes, that took me the longest to get right. i have no idea what my next mecha will (...)
