As a Trans Fan reborn, could you see sets like this being in demand?  I'm
toying with the possibility of offering Transformer sets, and if possible
even aquiring the official transformer license (having no idea at this point
what that might cost).  I'd be interested to see what price point they could
sell at.

The timing might be right for such a venture.  Right now, Takara offers a few
original Generation 1 Transformers for sale over the internet, and those have
been selling like hotcakes.  They also offer PVC statues of various characters.

In my experience, every mechanical engineer under the age of 30 I've ever met
has been interested in Transformers; most have a strong interest in Lego as
well (from prototyping).  So you potentially have a quite a few people willing
to pay as much as $500-$600 for such a model (just look at some of the prices
for OG transformers on Ebay).  I would definitely talk to Sun Yun about this.
He has a lot of experience with selling custom sets, and his models sell out
very fast at $200-$300.

Glad you like it Chris, I am starting to lean towards Optimus too. He shouldn't be too tough to build, being color friendly to my collection (I have plenty of red, and should have enough blue and white/gray). I should even be able to keep Megatron (...)
