Thanks Dave, Megatron is pretty solid, the legs aren't all brick, but most
of the rest is. When building I wasn't conciously trying to lighten him, I
tend to build more for strength and rigidity than for weight concerns.
I've been toying with the possibility of offering Megatron and future
transformer designs as kits. The deck is kind of stacked against the
practicality of it, but I just can't put the idea to rest. I know that
there's a pretty good collector's market for Transformer related items. To
do it right it would mean aquiring the licensing to put the Transformer
logos and the names on the model. I'm wondering what it might cost to
aquire such a license.
I'm also wondering what dedicated transformer fans might be willing to pay
for lego models of this quality. Without somehow dealing directly with TLC
to aquire the parts for the kits, I can see it would cost a lot to buy the
parts, so I can see the kits needing to sell for upwards of $200 or more.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions about this, or feedback on whether
you think people would want to buy transformer lego sets and how much they
could sell for, please respond.
Regards,
-Dave Thomas Jr.
