Object lesson in bad photography —Brian Cooper
(URL) gundam has been gathering dust as I try to figure out how to photograph it and update my website. It may be impossible. Notice how the black detail is completely lost and the red hue isn't consistent across the image (perhaps because of the (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Wow. That's a very nice gundam! It's meaty--and I love the shield. :) But you *can* photograph it--the big problem is the source of light. Flashes are never kind with black--it shows off the studs too well. I'd suggest popping the $10 to get (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Mladen Pejic
(...) It looks like a valiant Viking warrior! Amazing, I love how you can capture the "Gundam" look Brian! (...) Lindsay has the right idea. My brother even suggested halogen worklights to me. Definitely a good idea. (...) Wow! I can't believe that (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

RE: Object lesson in bad photography —Bram Lambrecht
(...) I have taken pictures of black models in poor lighting conditions, and still had pictures with plenty of detail: (URL) the red still looks fine! A little more color adjustment would probably improve it even more. Just don't mix fluorescent and (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Bryce McGlone
I dunno...the black looks good to me...real good. More importantly what scares me is that you have a fully done Gundam sitting around "gathering dust". What's up with that? You got more? :-) Later, Bryce (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Brian Cooper
The funny thing is I'm not using a flash and I'm using a "painter's light" essentially halogen with a white diffuser to simulate sunlight, it just doesn't work with black lego in this case (perhaps vertical plates are more shiny than bricks). Here's (...) (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Mladen Pejic
(...) Hopefully this will fix up the images. Good luck! (...) LOL! WARNING: The typical mecha smell, while especially pleasing to male subjects, is poisonous. Long term exposure is to be avoided if it all possible. ;-) (...) Mladen Pejic, over and (...) (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography (Poison!) —Borislav Marinov
(...) Absolutely right! It's really too bad no one said that early, for my mind has already been warped from this "poison". Bobby (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

RE: Object lesson in bad photography —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Just one light? Try using three...all from different directions, and none pointing in exactly the same direction as the camera. Say, one behind/above, one on the front left and one on the front right. Even lighting provided by multiple lights (...) (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Steve Bliss
(...) has a nice contrast to its background. In MS04, the background is primarily black with some red (the scaffolding), the same colors as the mecha. This could definitely contribute to the feeling that MS04 is 'murky badness'. Steve (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography (Poison!) —Borislav Marinov
(...) Shoot K! You see right throug me. I came back a few weeks ago from vacation and I was planning to keep quiet until I get something build but no, you had to show off your 04! :) Bobby (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Eric Sophie
OMIGOD that is just so awseome. Wow! Yiesh!!!!! Besides being completely blown away, I too have trouble photographing the all Black creations I have. But then again I am just learning to work with photographs in this area. Taking Pix of the Big Mech (...) (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography —Amy Hughes
(...) Use more light sources, all the same "temperature" (don't mix halogen, flourescent and incadescent), from different angles, and diffuse it. You can diffuse the light using a diffuser (expensive if you aren't into photography as a hobby), or (...) (23 years ago, 23-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
