I think what some of the advanced builders in this forum are criticizing in
this model is the uneven design. We've all experienced working on a model,
perfecting the part that most interests us and which has the clearest image
in our minds, then filling in the other bits of the design around it without
as much focus, just to complete it. Making good lego models requires
patience and equal attention to all aspects of the design.
The head of the gundam shows great creativity and attention to detail, the
rest of the structure has the aura of a tower designed to support the head,
rather than a well-proportioned functional body, which detracts from the
gundamness and elegance (which the mind is trained to discern in the
humanoid form). The head by itself would have been a worthy model.
