Welcome to .mecha Matthew.

I’m new to the AFOL scene; I played with lego (Space - then Technic) loads as a kid but stopped as adolesence brought other diversions ;). Recently was pointed in the direction of Sun Yun’s website FoundryDX and impressed and inspired enough to start playing again! Anyway, to business - the first result: Brickshelf folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=154373 --

Quite impressive for a first one. I like the poseability. It seems to me you had real fun doing those poses for the pics.

The colour scheme is a little offensive, what with grey ~and~ bley, but my brick selection is limited (growing though!).

I’m not bothered by the color scheme. The colores fit together quite well.

The proportions are a bit off to me. You have those cluncky feet which look really good (you used a black rounded 2x3 on the right and a inverted slope on the left - brick availability?). But those feet are to massive compared to the rest of your mech. Especially the arms look long and weak. You could try to cover the click hinge at the elbow a bit more and give the arms more volume. Slopes instead of the tiles might be helpful.

Lots of ball joints, brick hinges for knees and click hinges for elbows.
Don’t foreget about the supporting bricks. I recomend the Designer Sets for Dinosaurs and Robots (small and big).

What d’you think? Any recommendations? Thanks!

With Mecha you chose a building theme which is quite challenging. It can be disapointing sometimes, especially in the begining. If it is give it another try.

Keep building
Marco
