This mecha is textbook Mladen. Smooth, studless look to it, good, clean looking detail without being too gawdy, excellent cockpit detail looks like a luxury car designer did the interior, and enough weapons to be a formidable one mecha army.

Heh, thanks Chris!

My favorite things are the cockpit detail, and the shoulders; I love the way the textured 1x2 bricks protrude slightly from the plane of the rest of the shoulder. How did you do that?

Since Geordan asked me, and now you, I decided to do an exploded view of it in LDraw. Hope that helps.

My only complaint on this mecha is the hip design. You have the joint that pivots forward (kick forward) attached to the joint that swings out (leg spread). This creates a pose which is somewhat unnatural looking; it is much better to have the swing out joint attached to the kick forward joint, or have them be the same joint (like a ball joint or a multiaxis click hinge). That being said, I think it’s clever how you designed the leg to twist out using the same 1x4 hinge joint that you used for the other two hip motions.

Yeah, I’ll be the first to admit my joint-tech is lacking. I’m more interested in stability than “naturalness”. I’m going to seriously try to come up with something better though. I’ve been using that 1x4 hinge plate design far too long. Thanks for calling me out on it. :-D

But that’s just a small complaint; I really think this is an impressive creation by anyone’s standards.

Thanks again Chris.

Can’t wait to see more!

Certainly! I hope to find the time to make more MOCs and post about them. :-)
