IMO the head is hokey but with time restrictions and all...

When I saw this on brickshelf I thought, “almost nightmarish perfection, except they head doesn’t quite seem to have the right evil aura”. It needs a reworking in the future to do the rest of the model justice, or would that be injustice.

The structure proper, The Rack, is obviously inspired by Gieger, the German artist. I wanted to make a very textured, very evil looking form. In looking at some of Gieger’s work I decided to stress the flow of forms in my Lego. I purposely attempted to flow from organic to industrial looking forms.

Yes, it looks like a vile *growth*, something that could never be built, the best use of tubular and cylindrical Lego parts I’ve ever seen, all that curving and twisting black texture... I thought it was some sort of eternal torture device for immortal biomechanical beings, like it alternately writhed and chafed off the skin, then allowed it to grow back in brief interludes, popping out the victim for grisly display (and giving the poor soul an opportunity every 1000 years to sobbingly repent for sins, if anyone shows up to listen). This made me think the head should look like a red, eyeless skull.

Amazing work.

As some of you know I've been building mostly Bionicle stuff the last couple years. I know it's the lil' red haired stepchild of the Lego community but whatever; I'm sure you can get over it. Anyhoo BZPower (a Bionicle duh fan based website) is (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX) !!
