Hi Brian! One thing you'll notice that is different between ball joint and gear driven mechs is the range of motion using gears is very linear. That being the case, balance will now be a larger factor in building than it ever was before. My personal (...) (20 years ago, 21-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.org.us.cedarlug, FTX)

(...) PlatforMechABDI/1.jpg>> (...) Brian, I'm really not a fan of the ED-209 type mechs, but even then, this one isn't so bad. If you wanna continue to go in this direction, I suggest that you try some variation with your legs... I mean, try making (...) (...) Brian, I thought this creation was a hoot. For several reasons it reminded me why I do this in the first place. You built a mech just because you wanted to and grow with it. Good for you! The legs are thin, could be filled in with brick or (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.org.us.cedarlug, FTX)

(...) I will keep your recommendations for height in mind for my next build. I have been working on arm and hip joints to allow the gear-driven Mech to have "almost" the same motion (x,y and z axis) as the ball and joint model. (...) With this being (...) (...) I love this statement because it shows my ignorance and lack of experience in the Mech world! I had no idea that was a "ED-209" type model that I was mimicking. All I was thinking was bi-pedal with missiles. Do you have a link to any (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) lol... not so much that it's an ED-209, it's just that it has that reverse knee bend action :) Again, not that I have anything against these type of mechs, I just prefer a more "humanoid" type model. Keep on truckin! E. (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
