I cannot wait!

Cool, rocket-pack equipped hardsuits... drool

Awe-insipiring mobile platform plowing through a city... major drool

New CG-intensive anime trend... vomit

LOL!

I love Appleseed and will probably watch this, but I am severely disappointed in the CG trend that is taking over anime like a disease. In my opinion, it just cheapens it, dare I say, makes it look *Americanized*. ;-)

dude, how can you say that? anime is all about cutting-edge animation! the japanese have always pushed the envelope with intriguing story lines and awesome graphics. to use cg is just a natural step toward the evolution of the genre. in fact, if you’ll notice, there’s a lot of cell-shading cg in that movie--the best i’ve seen yet! so far, all cell-shading cg art has looked sub-par thus far, but appleseed takes it to a whole new level. unlike squaresoft and the final fantasy movie, it seems the animators in appleseed didn’t want their characters to look too real, but rather, they wanted to use the same cutting edge graphics technology while maintaining the classic “anime” look. i would love to see an evangelion movie like this (btw, i already know about the one already in “production”). i’d love to hear others comment about this.

Not to mention that the Anime had CG in it way before it become popular in American cartoons (e.g. Ghost in the Shell)
