Ankle joint consists of a dual worm table mounted back to back to form a square with two 9V motors driving the pivot rotation. The toes are highly geared down to provide additional balance control. Well, I'm nearing the end of my blitz of new MOCs. This is one of my favorites. I don't have enough pieces to build a really good large mech, so I stay small. When I was a kid, I had this book about, I think, Aztec gods ... anyway, the main character goes on a quest, and meets all these weird gods of lightning and what have you ... anyway, the reason I mention that ... that's what it reminds me of! Personally I think they suck. The range of motion is very limited and if you exceed that limit, the two halves of the ball pull apart and joint breaks. POP! End of story. You could remedy this by adhering the two halves together with glue but then (...) (21 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) I just ordered some from bricklink. I had the same idea but unfortunately I don't think they work well as joints. They could have made the ball joints better if they made it a full ball instead of half. Hope this helps. (21 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

oh yeah, this baby's got "zaku" written all over it. nice modification of this model, though. i really dig the cannisters on his back. i've seen them in many anime mecha before. what exactly are they for? i also like the "chunkiness" of it with only (...) Mmm, crappy crap. This is great! I love the chunkiness of this guy. The head is well done- I like the personality it conveys. And I like the effect of those short, squat legs. The cockpit also looks good, too. Looks like a very gritty MOC. Great (...) (22 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
