Question Regarding Ball Joints

Just wondering,

How strong are the new ball joints in the Geonosian Fighter and AT-TE?

I'm (slowly) building a mecha and debating with myself whether to buy some
for leg joints.   The mecha will be a quadped (sp?).  I've heard the joints
are fairly weak and using worm gears and other Technic pieces work better.

(...) I just ordered some from bricklink. I had the same idea but unfortunately I don't think they work well as joints. They could have made the ball joints better if they made it a full ball instead of half. Hope this helps. (21 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Personally I think they suck. The range of motion is very limited and if you exceed that limit, the two halves of the ball pull apart and joint breaks. POP! End of story. You could remedy this by adhering the two halves together with glue but then (...) (21 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
