Personally I think they suck. The range of motion is very limited and if you
exceed that limit, the two halves of the ball pull apart and joint breaks.
POP! End of story. You could remedy this by adhering the two halves together
with glue but then you would also need a stiffening technique since the
joint is reletively loose. The the issue of actually attaching something to
the ball! LEGO didn't provide the obvious perfered axle hole, it made a
regular technic friction pin hole with a poor attempt at stud grooves.

| Just wondering, How strong are the new ball joints in the Geonosian Fighter and AT-TE? I'm (slowly) building a mecha and debating with myself whether to buy some for leg joints. The mecha will be a quadped (sp?). I've heard the joints are fairly (...) (22 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
