Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update 08/17/01

(...) Glad to be of service, Mark. Cool mecha- I really dig the cockpit and head design. Nice use of the drills on the cheeks. Later, Todd Amacher SILICON PSYCHE (URL) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

  Ball & socket joints.

I have a question about the colors for the ball and socket joints. do they make grey (light or dark) sockets and or balls. (the ball by itself not when it is part of a larger piece*) I have a number of black ball and socket joints in a mech that I (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.build.mecha)

  A good weekend for mecha

Hey everyone, I took an long (for me!) vacation and drove to Chicago for five days, and I missed all the fun here! I felt the threads were too old to comment on individually, but I was (naturally) impressed with all the new offerings-- especially (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Mecha: The Shikari

(...) Newbie speaking here, hold your fire please ;) Pretty darn nifty... I wouldn't worry overmuch about your use of a transparent cockpit. After all, how the heck is the pilot going to see out when the computers crash? (Of course, one might (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Mecha: The Shikari

(...) Hi Joel, That's pretty darn good. It seems to have a decent shape to it. The wingy bits on the back look good. I'd like to see better pictures of the torso and maybe the cockpit, however. Thanks for sharing. :^) ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update 08/17/01

very cool, man i WAS werkin on a green and grey mecha, alas, i suck at it, so its on hold for now.... the carrier is very hip, i like the fact that it is dedicated to only one mecha, presumably expending its own fuel in mecha delivery, so the mech (...)   Re: New Mecha - "Tortoise" Next-Generation Land Mecha

As usual, totally awesome, man. the only thing i don't like is his 'rifle', it looks like it was built in a hurry... i thought i was the only one who built w/ blue and tan :-) keep it up -p (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

RE: Object lesson in bad photography

(...) I have taken pictures of black models in poor lighting conditions, and still had pictures with plenty of detail: (URL) the red still looks fine! A little more color adjustment would probably improve it even more. Just don't mix fluorescent and (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: New Mecha: The Shikari

Study.. why yes! You must sit and watch 20 hours of continuous mecha action. Study material will include everything from Gundam Wing to Patlabor to Macross... Then, after that, proceed to watching another 20 hours and another and another... ;-) (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: New Mecha: The Shikari

Great model Joel! I love the feet! Suggestions: Anime mecha don't usually have transparent windscreens. Also, they usually have small heads (althought my Tortoise sorta proved that wrong). If you want your mecha to have a no-head design, jack-up the (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

(...) It looks like a valiant Viking warrior! Amazing, I love how you can capture the "Gundam" look Brian! (...) Lindsay has the right idea. My brother even suggested halogen worklights to me. Definitely a good idea. (...) Wow! I can't believe that (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Object lesson in bad photography

(...) Wow. That's a very nice gundam! It's meaty--and I love the shield. :) But you *can* photograph it--the big problem is the source of light. Flashes are never kind with black--it shows off the studs too well. I'd suggest popping the $10 to get (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Object lesson in bad photography

(URL) gundam has been gathering dust as I try to figure out how to photograph it and update my website. It may be impossible. Notice how the black detail is completely lost and the red hue isn't consistent across the image (perhaps because of the (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  New Mecha: The Shikari
