Re: Technic C3PO/Stormtrooper - better mecha parts?

(...) How about the rest of the pieces in there, though? Are the ones in the ST markedly better for mecha building? I hear that most of the 3PO parts are actually black... Also, how 'strong' are the ball joints - how much pressure do they take to (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.starwars)

Re: Technic C3PO/Stormtrooper - better mecha parts?

(...) The C3-PO has the most ball joints- a total of 5, compared to the S.T.'s 4. and yes, they are cool for mecha. I've built one this week with them and I'll post pics soon. Later, Todd (URL) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.starwars)

A REAL challenge for mecha builders

This is a tough one: make a good "big" version of Millenia/Millenium using only the parts given and maybe a couple other rods/pins/connectors. I myself made a better one than TLC, but I still liked the bike better so I dismantled mine and built the (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Technic C3PO/Stormtrooper - better mecha parts?

I was looking at the new Technic sets - the C3PO and the Stormtrooper - and thinking that those ball & socket joints would be pretty darn handy in making mecha and similar posable things. But I'm not sure which set to pick up, so I thought I'd (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.starwars)

  Re: new models

if your interested check out the mecha and vehical LEGO (...) hmm.. I dunno.. all i can say is maybe try night time surfing of the web; at least for my page... I'll send you some pictures on email if you can get my pages to download. For those of (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

at the risk of repeating the others...

ok, this thing is just too cool the mini-spiders, the legs, all of it its not only aesthetically titillating ;-) but its got numerous cases of interesting parts usage (new ways of combining the pieces) keep it up -p (...)   Re: new models

(...) John, I've been trying every morning for the last three days to look at your pictures. The farthest I've gotten is the gallery for I think the Aoi Katana. I looks cool from what I can see, but I can't get the closeups to load. I guess I'll (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Arach Mecha

(...) I like "PFP". Can this be officially part of the Mecha vocabulary? I can hear it now..."the PFP is the hip which makes the mecha take a bow...with many SFP (secondary fragile point) in the elbows and knees". :-) (...) I like the surveilance (...)   Re: Arach Mecha

(...) (snipped) (...) I'd love to see those around here more skilled at Mecha than I am take the idea and run with it, actually. (...) Hehe. Something like that! :) Joel Jacobsen (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

  Re: Arach Mecha

(...) It is surprisingly stable, though a little heavy for the joints if the legs are positioned outwards too far. The primary fragile point (PFP? is that a valid acronym?? <G>), is where the abdomen attaches to the body - probably because I tend to (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Arach Mecha

(...) I'm not so sure about that, but coming from you, that means a lot. *8) I just hope the rest of my MOC's can provide even a fraction of the inspiration to others that I've gleaned from LUGNET so far. The feeling of participating in the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

  Re: Arach Mecha

(...) Thanks! Next? well.. I took some 300+ images over the weekend with my friend's camera. I've been building for probably 6 months but couldn't justify the cost on film and developing - so.. as I get the images edited and such, I'll be sharing (...) (...) ...Well, here's a comment: _Sweet_!!!! What a _great_ design. I like the whole thing, looks clean and simple and conveys the idea very nicely (expect some copied ideas from it :-) ...The mine delivery system is both funny and cool... momma (...)   Re: Anago Battle Armor

(...) I built something similar years ago... well, similar in that it used minifig leg articulation. I still have it assembled, and have been meaning to get better pictures of it for a while, but I entered it in The Construction Site's first (...) Thanks Bryan! That was my intent, to use make a hardsuit that could really, actually be worn by an entire mini-fig. (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Thank you, Mladen! I'm glad to hear it when people like my models. In case anybody was wondering Aoi means blue and Akai means red... -John (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Arach Mecha

(...) Great model. Many of the spider mecha looked "forced" and fragile. Yours is very natural looking. It also looks very sturdy. The whole thing looks complete...I mean without any rough areas that look like they still need work. The spider mine (...)   Re: Anago Battle Armor

(...) By far the coolest minifig armour that I've seen. As for those Stormtrooper ball socket things...just cut the top off one of the useless throwbot throwing arms (I believe this was Dave Johann's idea). Bryce (24 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)
