ok,
this thing is just too cool
the mini-spiders, the legs, all of it

its not only aesthetically titillating ;-)
but its got numerous cases of interesting parts usage
(new ways of combining the pieces)

keep it up

The recon/infiltration mech that I have named the "Arach" was initially
inspired by Franklin Cain's post of some weeks back about using the A-wing
cockpit in a different way. Having been interested in making a mech with
more than two legs, his use of the helicopter rotor piece as the anchor
point for the legs of his mech answered a design problem I'd been running
into. Much thanks Franklin!

I tried to build the Arach with the intent of making it as 'natural' as
possible - the optics on the 'head' were arranged to resemble the eyes of a
spider, as was the 'mandible' placement of the antennas and the 'fang'
positioned cannons.

As I was completing the model, the idea came to me to incorporate the
spiders used in the Adventurer's sets as genuine "Spider mines" and so, the
abdomen of the Mech was altered from being just empty and wasted space to
being the delivery module. Presently 9 explosive mines, 1 EMP and 1 Napalm
mine are deployed for use with the Arach.

I borrowed a friend's digital camera and it was somewhat ambivalent about
taking close up images so I apologize for the clarity of some of the shots.
My Photoshop skills aren't stellar but I think I got the pics as cleaned up
as possible.

Comments and suggestions very welcome; just be gentle - this is my first
time. :)
