I wanted to use a head that would indicate that the electronics of the
surveillance and navigation systems were integrated into the pilot's uniform
and helmet - the UFO bodies just seemed perfect, but since the pilot IS
human.. I needed a head. And Han's smirk just seemed to call out - the pilot
of anything with 8legs has to be just a little bit cocky, after all. I can
barely walk on my own 2!!

They can be whatever someone wants them to be. :) Having been playing
Starcraft recently, the spidermine idea popped into my head and it was a
perfect matchup. Though I've also considered using them as smaller 'eyes and
ears' - it's easier for a spider that size to infiltrate a compound and
scout about than one that's pushing the size of a small tank. :)
Now, if I could only find a use for all those scorpions.... I am NOT gonna
make a scorpion mech...! must.. not.. give.. in... hmmmm..I wonder...

The legs are attached with a grey Technic Peg-to-Cross axle pin into a
couple round 2x2 plates from underneath the plates. That's the one thing I
.should. have taken a picture of and didn't before I returned the camera. Ah
well.

Here's Franklin's post from a bit back. He used a different piece to connect
the rotor - I'm not sure what it is (is that the piece you're talking
about?), or that I even have one from what I think I can tell from his
image, but it's the best view of how the 4 outer legs are attached. To help
stability, I added 1x3 and 1x1 plates to the 'cross' of the legs to keep
them from pulling apart. It also helps with coordination with the black
plates under the legs all the way along to try and make things 'look'
better. :) They're "actually" coated in a durable synthetic that allows for
gripping various surfaces when climbing - or sitting, since it could damage
the transmission. ;)
Over all it's a reasonably sturdy and quite stable layout. As long as one
doesn't mind the inner legs being mostly body support. They only move
up/down and in/out. For the model size/weight and the pieces I have
available, there wasn't a way to make them move forward/backward to assist
with movement but it doesn't really bother me. :)

Thank you - having 2 responses so far in the positive is reassuring. I just
found it kinda unnerving to start sharing from under the shadows of the
likes of Grand Admiral Muffin Head and Mladen and yourself and the rest
around here.
