I have to say that up until I began typing this post, I was excited; now I
have to say that it's with a bit of fear and trepidation that I offer up
proof that I do, indeed, do more than post around here. :)

Great model. Many of the spider mecha looked "forced" and fragile. Yours is
very natural looking. It also looks very sturdy. The whole thing looks
complete...I mean without any rough areas that look like they still need
work.

It is surprisingly stable, though a little heavy for the joints if the legs
are positioned outwards too far.  The primary fragile point (PFP? is that a
valid acronym?? <G>), is where the abdomen attaches to the body - probably
because I tend to pick it up there and with only 4 studs, it just doesn't
like the weight transferred across such an isolated point.

The spider mine has to be one of the most original ideas in a while.
Before I read your post I thought those were drones. Also the pics of the
spider climbing stuff is just plain creepy. It really does look like a
spider. Great job. I'll be waiting for more.

Drones or mines - they can be either, I suppose. :) I'm still trying to
decide if I want to make up a 'background' for the Mech as a lot of others
here tend to do. If I do, I'll probably have them be capable of a variable
loadout - as surveilance units or as mines as needed. The abdomen originally
was going to be a detatchable bomb of some sort but as the delivery module
it just seems more functional. Thanks for the feedback. :)

(...) I like "PFP". Can this be officially part of the Mecha vocabulary? I can hear it now..."the PFP is the hip which makes the mecha take a bow...with many SFP (secondary fragile point) in the elbows and knees". :-) (...) I like the surveilance (...)
