(...) *Sighs* Wish I could have entered, but by the time I got my model done I discovered it was 1 stud to long, and there wasn't enough time to build a new one. Ah well, I'll just have to wait for the next one! -- Mark Nelson LCC Command: (URL) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

My BT Contest Update: Is the Scrutinizer in the house?

(...) and it weighs in at 303 pieces if it includes 2 figs as shown. That's barely over the max of 300, but I can drop one minifig to bring it down to 298 if we are going to be strict about it. Scrutinizer? Can we get a call on this? Also, I'm (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  BT1 <click click>

Well, I wish it was <click click> of a camera already, as we are now less than three weeks away from the end of the BT1 contest. But unfortunately, it is still the <click click> of LEGO Bricks (although that is a nice sound too!). I've been (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) Dear Drew, Richthofen flew several planes in WWI but the Albatros DIII was the one he painted red. More information is here: (URL) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) Yeah, I thought he flew a tri-plane as well. Here's my own minifig-scale version; (URL) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) I do admit keeping the wheel design, although without cross bracing like the Sopwith Camel has, and the upper wing is almost identical except above the cockpit. (why change what works best?) The cockpit was also much more difficult because of (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) Nice triplanes! How is the comma tale made, exactly? I don't konw of enough pieces to fill it in and make it solid. Thanks, George (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

Hi Ben, I didn't know that Richthofen also flew a bi-plane. Your model is very nice and it is in fact lots of fun to transfer the "set of the year" into a own creation. Do you know the Fokker DR I from Vancouer / Canada: (URL) my personal version of (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) Thank you Drew for your praise. I had always wanted to build this model and spent three days constructing and reconstructing the plane. I am a perfectionist and not totally happy with the plane's fuselage and nose but it was really fun to (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(cross-posted to lugnet.military as well) I saw yesterday when I was browsing Brickshelf's Recent stuff, and i was wondering if you would post it to Lugnet. (so we can shower you with praise for such an excellent model) You did a great job on it, I (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) I would have thought it easier to do the boxier Fokker D7 than the curvy Albatross, but I recognized the plane right away! Great job. Bruce (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

I have changed the contrast of the photographs so they are brighter. Unfortunately, the digital camera I am using can not do closeup shots well. Ben (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

Dear Ben, (...) The pipe is a brown tube from a technic set. In addition the machine guns are technic 1 x 2 pins with brown tubes inside of them. (...) I will try to get new pictures sometime soon but I have college finals. Thank you for your (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) Ben, Great model of an often overlooked WWI plane! You're making me want to order the Sopwich Camel for parts. George (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) the (...) I think it looks excellent, a worthy adversory for the Sopwith Camel :-) The photos are a bit dark however, and don't show the model to its full effect; a bit of gamma correction would fix this no bother. Jennifer (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Red Baron's Albatros DIII

(...) Dear Ben, I like your model alot (had to look twice at the bended knighs lance - or is that in fact a brown tube?), but are you maybe able to take new pictures? These are a little fuzzy and especially too dark to give a chance to get aware of (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.contests)
