The mayor is a fool! someone should tie him to the monorail track, or • stick
his head in the power generator that you made.

He is expressing the desires of a wealthy community that wants to keep to
themselves.  Of course, when governments put policies like this into place,
other governments get irritated and inevitably retaliate.  It is likely that
other towns would put tarrifs like this on Bricktopia citizens coming into
their towns making external travel very expensive and irritating.

The Australians are probably going to jump all over me for this, but I
recall that they used to be extremely strict about having special "visa's"
any time you went from the U.S. to Australia (even for a week or two of
business/vacation).  It was increadibly expensive and time consuming to get
such Visa's and if you didn't have the right one, they would hassle the heck
out of you when you tried to enter (happened to me twice).  Apparently, U.S.
citizens protested this treatment and the U.S. decided to make Australians
get VISA's to enter the U.S.   Also, I saw many instances where Australians
were clearly singled out for harrasment when entering the U.S. and I'm sure
that this was a little "pay-back" for the treatment provided by Australia to
U.S. citizens.  I noticed that Australia has since dropped this Visa
requirement.  The U.S. dropped theirs (for Australia) at the same time.

It goes to show you that isolationist policies can come back to bite you!
