  Baroque Villa

This is a Baroque villa based on Villa Amerika, in Prague (1720). I'm afraid that not all of the ornamentation comes through in the LEGO version. It looks a bit more neo-classical rather than baroque. (URL) posting the model on (...) (24 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.build, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Futuristic Capital Building

This is a futuristic capital building I created. (URL) utilizes a number of different classical architectural styles, and some art-deco, but the final look is decidedly futuristic. The central pillar is made from vertically mounted, curved, Paradisa (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Church design - what is right?

(...) thanks, that's pretty useful. I friend told me that the transepts should be mote towards the tower, and the door on the southern side. He is correct about the door(s), but about the transepts position . I guess it will stay that way. (...) (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Church design - what is right?

Nice. I like a lot of different things about it. I like the very small transept and choir. Usually small churches are purely rectangular. Only larger buildings tend to exhibit the cross-like geometry. I like how this one has the mini-transept and (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: 27 Story Exoskeleton Skyscraper MOC (CAD)

Actually, I've used www.greatbuildings.com, but this is more of a reference rather than a tutorial. Also, they are annoyingly lacking pictures on about 3/4 of their building descriptions! As far as the Bauhaus style, I probably should have been more (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.town)

Re: Church design - what is right?

Here is a link to a plan diagram of fairly typical cathedral. Cathedrals derive their plan form from the basilica. (URL) Tower should face West (often referred to as the West works) 2.   Re: Church design - what is right?

Churches often have some sort of underground rooms. Cathedrals generally have crypts for notable dead people underneath them, or for relics or whatever. Crypts for notable live people are kept elsewhere. Campaniles are generally part of the Italian (...) (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

(...) Or bell tower, or campanile, particularly if it isn't attached to the church. (...) These often have a chapel underneath them, but I believe they are called the chancel. If you are refering to the area where the altar is. Amy (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Church design - what is right?

(...) So then no, the steeple isn't always to the west. :D Doors are usually at the end of the nave (see below), or at least on one of the transepts. (...) Tower is usually called the "Steeple". The small additions on the sides are called (...) (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

Church design - what is right?

Hello! I just putted my church online ( (URL) ), but that doesn't mean that my design will no longer change. I have had the following questions for a long time: 1. The tower is always towards West?!?! My local church points east if I am right. 2. If (...) (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: 27 Story Exoskeleton Skyscraper MOC (CAD)

Interesting. My information on Bauhaus is actually a bit limited. I'm basing it on a few write-ups an a few pictures I've seen. These pictures were of clear glass sky-scrapers that bear reasonable resemblance to my building. However, the external (...)   Re: 27 Story Exoskeleton Skyscraper MOC (CAD)

Once again, nice work Brad. Thanks for sharing! This is a nice looking model, although I would hesitate mentioning Bauhaus. Walter Gropius had a vision, and I am not sure that what you have built captures his intentions. This is a Great LEGO model, (...)   27 Story Exoskeleton Skyscraper MOC (CAD)

(...) Yup. 6085 is the only castle I can think of off-hand that I'm still willing to pay the market value for, just because of the parts selection.
