UFO clear and gray pieces - Are they useful for emulating architectural features?

When the UFO stuff first came out, I scoffed at them (because I'm more into town than space). However, I decided that I wanted to build a merry-go-round and the circular pieces would make a good top. So, I bought two UFO sets. I never was able to (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: Eiffel Tower

Rick Nice pictures. And thanks for letting me see this cool model firsthand. It's a brilliant use of stacked 1x1s. I especially like the use of 1x1 round plates stuck in the middle of four studs to get a tighter indentation. I also marvel at the (...) (25 years ago, 6-Mar-00, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Several New Buildings added to my Site...

<snip> (...) I might have to try that. That is not one of the things I have tried. (...) That's a very interesting idea. I have used up quite a bit of my log pieces in a couple of my Market builings but I might have enough for a small building. I (...) (25 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Several New Buildings added to my Site...

(...) Again thanks for the compliments. (...) I think you mean the inside corners that I have to use? If so then yes they have always been there. In retrospect I am not sure I should have used so many inside corners. The reason is not because I (...) (25 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: Eiffel Tower

It looks great. It would have been hard to do the X shaped sections without going to a larger (more expensive) scale. Rick Kujawa <spacerocks@iname.com> wrote in message news:Fqtq40.1AD@lugnet.com...   Re: Several New Buildings added to my Site...

I like your "generic building." It's very tight with nice color coordination. On the gate house, it does seem a bit plain. You could consider adding a fancier roof or make the top look like an add-on structure in a different color. On my castle, I (...) (25 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Several New Buildings added to my Site...

(...) Thanks! (...) Actually it is not so much the facade of the structure I am unhappy with. The feeling I wanted the stucture to give was one of strength and I feel that to many windows and other things hanging off it take away from that feeling. (...)   Re: Eiffel Tower

Thanks for using the C word Brad, I don't dare. :) I made a few prototypes trying to make X shaped sections with no success. I just slapped it together in about a day and a half. 247 hits and 5 guestbook entries since putting it up this afternoon. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.build.arch)
