  Re: Ice Cream Shop

I didn't spell Graeters correctly. Their main web site is here: (URL) article about the location I'm talking about is here: (URL) believe this is a picture of the location I'm thinking about: (URL) (20 years ago, 14-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.town, FTX)

  Re: Ice Cream Shop

(...) Very nice. It reminds me of a local ice cream shop that's also in an older building. It's a Graters here in Cincinnati, OH. Everyone who's lived in the Cincinnati area knows about Graters. They still make their ice cream by hand. They were (...) (20 years ago, 14-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch, lugnet.town, FTX)

  lattice windows

Using the lattice windows for church buildings often gave me the feeling of coming up with too small or too low windows. Looking for solutins I came up with three variations. I.   Re: New Resource

(...) Thanks Clark, it did help and thanks for adding it - I will think about volunteering, although I have so many different classes of building that I have interest in it might be hard to focus on just architecture...   Re: Ice Cream Shop

Amy & All, (...) This is a really nice building, and I just love that color. Lynn, my wife, is calling that color Fench vanilla, which is just too apropriate for the ice cream shop. : ) I was looking at the pictures yesterday, when she came in the (...)   Ice Cream Shop

This one's a year old. I'm just getting around to taking decent pictures of it before I tear it down. This is the ice cream shop I've shown with MichLUG and Michiana-LUG as part of the block that contains the sand red hotel and tan museum. (URL) (...)   Re: How do you do this? Doors and roofs?

I send this to lugnet.build.arch too, hope to get some input. The most important right now, is to get to know more about odd roofs, where e.g. walls are not straigh. Sonnich (...) (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

(...) Perhaps you could have a SNOT Technique on the sides. You could maybe use hinges for the curves or layered plates and tiles. (20 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

(...) Thanks, Ross! I much appreciate the links. Those are some beautiful bridges.. They've given me a few ideas, but my main problems are still related to achieving a realistic look at such a small scale. I've thought of building in curves with the (...)   Re: 12-foot bridge built in 2 hours on live TV

Sean, That look great! Excellent work as always. Too bad I missed you by a day, as i was in Philly on Tuesday. Of course, it was raining so hard i couldn't even SEE the bridge when i was driving across it... Tony (20 years ago, 5-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

Re: Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

(...) Jordan, You might want to check out Adrian Egli's bridge studies at (URL) they are much larger than the scale you're looking at, you may get some ideas. There are several nice bridge examples there, including a couple of curved ones: (URL) (20 years ago, 5-Oct-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.arch)

Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

I've been experimenting with building elevated highways, and have several questions pertaining to such. I wanted to build on a scale of about 3 meters/stud, but I don't think that's an adequate resolution if I want to put in realistic curves, anyone (...)   Re: 12-foot bridge built in 2 hours on live TV

(...) Thanks, yeah, I guess I meant stanchion. :) Gosh, I always called them "sanctions". Gasp, a faux pas on the .arch group. :) That's OK, I think I called them "pylons" on the TV show, so it's all good. :) Sean (20 years ago, 1-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

Re: 12-foot bridge built in 2 hours on live TV

Bruce: (...) Yeah, the bridge is a little too wide; I would have liked to used narrower base plates, but I didn't have any other sizes in gray. The real Ben Franklin Bridge has 4 lanes of traffic each way, plus two sets of train tracks, one on each (...) (20 years ago, 1-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch)

Sean, You're one of the folks I look up to... but what is a "sanction"? I think you meant tower... otherwise, Othmar Amman would be proud! Sid (20 years ago, 1-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

Re: 12-foot bridge built in 2 hours on live TV

Hey Sean, This is awesome! Cool MOC and great exposure. One critique - are those 2-wide cars to scale? It may just be because of the light traffic, but they seem a bit lost in among the gray. Bruce (20 years ago, 30-Sep-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)
