(...) The initial reason your site got pounded was because of Slashdot. Your system suffered what's called "The Slashdot Effect". Think of it as unintentional DDoS attack. Hello, I teach CAD at a Community College in California, and for the last few semesters I've incorporated LEGO (specifically, LEGO Technic) into my curriculum. The Abston Church of Christ pages were taken offline some time ago because they received more traffic than I can afford to serve. In the three days before I took them down they received 32,000 visitors, and each visitor used an average of somewhat (...)
