When Bricks Go Bad! —Richard Marchetti
Hey Y'all: I just tossed together a webpage of damaged elements with descriptions. As I am in the last stages of making a provisional lego element grading system available, I would be grateful for some feedback. Please look at the page and let me (...)      (...) been broken and damaged from many years of use (especially those 2x2 plates with the ladder part hanging off it, those always broke for me), but I think I threw away many of them in the Great Reorganization of 2001 (tm). It's an interesting (...) (23 years ago, 17-Jul-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: When Bricks Go Bad! —James Brown
(...) I'll check at home; I have a box of damaged parts that I should be able to photo or scan, although it may be a bit - I'm swamped right now. Examples I should be able to provide would be broken or cracked plates, stress marks from bending (...) (23 years ago, 17-Jul-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: When Bricks Go Bad! —Richard Marchetti
(...) Indeed, in documenting kinds of damage my intent is not so much to document stuff like "Woah, look what happened to this piece when I put it in the microwave!" but rather just to document the kinds of damage one normally sees, especially with (...) While I certainly wouldn't be happy if I bought a set with elements in that condition, I have absolutely no intention of getting rid of the elements already in my collection that are chewed. I hope that I do not sound as though I am a covert member of Greenpeace but I believe that a good idea would be to take the damaged LEGO bricks, LEGO plates, and LEGO pieces and for The LEGO Company to recycle them into new LEGO pieces that (...)      Richard, you should have come to the BAYLUG meeting on Sunday... I had a tray of totally messed up minifig pieces that you could have checked out.      (...) Thanks for the offer! I may very well take you up on that. But what the heck are you doing with 20 lbs of yucky elements. Is your house bad brick purgatory or something? =oP -- Hop-Frog (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.build)
