Thanks Mark,
If I manage to do it, it's not going to be easy to walk away from the WWII
constructions. And if I do, I have to admit it probably won't be permanent.
As I mentioned in another post, I have to even out my forces at some point -
I'll just have to find some Allied hardware that I'm inspired by - the Spitfire
or P-51 come to mind. In the meantime, though, I'm revisiting the AT-AT - I
still have the original together, but broken up into pieces. I'm in the
process of reassembling it and completely redesigning the underbelly and legs
to make it sturdier, completely articulated (hopefully), and more accurate.
As for CLSOTW, thanks for your nominations! Actually, my AT-ST site did win it
about a year to a year and a half ago, and I'm content to live with that
honor. Thanks anyway, though!
And the wings of the Stuka - they're actually completely rigid and can
withstand pretty much any load you care to apply. You can load it up with
bombs, rockets, or fuel tanks, hold it by the fuselage and swoop it around the
room, into steep dives, hard banks, and nothing shifts. I'll probably try and
LDraw a wing section to show how it's all assembled. Each wing uses four (4!!)
of the 4x4-to-1x4 hinge pieces, and then uses another one to angle the landing
gear vertically.
Thanks again,
shaun
