  Fully motorized sports car

This evening, I decided to challenge myself to build a small, yet cool looking fully motorized vehicle. Turned out I had the extra challenge of photographing a black model :) My previous attempt at a very small and fully motorized vehicle was too (...)   Re: Fully motorized sports car

(...) Wow, that looks Great!! I wish I could do such realistic looking cars. How about a dat file so the rest of us could try it? Gary The Alaskan Brick (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Fully motorized sports car

Hi Bram, well done!! Such a small car with two motors!! Fantastic! I allways struggeled to fix a steering motor into my large technic vehicles. Anyway, the time I tried this, none mircomotor existed. I really love the front and rear part of the car. (...) (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Fully motorized sports car

Considering the motors, it still ended up pretty sleek! I like the side air intakes and rear lights. They are well done. And you did a good job at concealing the micro motor. I also like the front mudguards... Fredrik (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Fully motorized sports car

Very cool - I'm amazed at how small it is given that it contains both steering and drive motors. I'm irritated that micro-motors are no longer available (at least last time I checked LEGO didn't have any more and didn't know if they would get more). (...)   RE: Fully motorized sports car

(...) Thanks! (...) I would have prefered if the micromotor was completely hidden, but compromises have to be made :) (...) You should, they're your design after all. (URL) like them too :) --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  RE: Fully motorized sports car

(...) I spent a long time trying to come up with a steering mechanism that takes up as little space as possible. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd be glad to hear/see them. (...) They're not perfect. Micromotors are too slow and weak for much else (...) (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  RE: Fully motorized sports car

(...) I agree that with the micromotor and geared motor, motorizing is much easier. I, too, used to build big cars using two of the ungeared motors. Sometimes I would succeed in building a car that wasn't too heavy to move, but I still needed 12 AA (...) (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

(...) If/when I have time and energy, I'll LDraw some of my latest stuff, but right now I should be studying for my physics final... --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (24 years ago, 16-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Fully motorized sports car

(...) Great model...how were you able to get a standard 9V motor to fit in that? (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

You continue to amaze me with your widely-varied building skills. Very nicely done! -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Fully motorized sports car

Bram, Bravo! A very very beautifully styled car even if it didn't have "action" features. The motion and control features make your model very actractive, indeed. Elegance in a small package. :-) later, James Mathis (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

Re: Fully motorized sports car - photography

G'Day Beautiful model ! So how did you take those great shots of a black model, I am thinking shadow box and over exposure, if so by how much ? Any details would be appreciated ! Cheers Oliver Play Well. "Bram Lambrecht" <bram@cwru.edu> wrote in (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

RE: Fully motorized sports car - photography

(...) Thanks! (...) I don't have much experience with photography, so basically, I played with the settings on my camera (Nikon Coolpix 990 - a fully automatic *and* fully manual 3.34 megapixel digital camara.) Since I was just taking pictures on my (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Fully motorized sports car

I've managed to build a copy of Bram's car just from the photos (incredible photography of a black model there), and have almost finished a dat file for it. If Bram doesn't mind, I will post my Dat, so others can build such a car, and so that he can (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)

  RE: Fully motorized sports car

(...) Thanks :) (...) Go right ahead. I'd like to see how close it is. So others can see how close it is, I'll post my DAT file too, since I just finished it :) --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (24 years ago, 23-Dec-00, to lugnet.build)
