I think so too, but even so, TLG hasn't departed from their module... The loop on
the old version was narrow enough that if you put a 1x1 tile on each side, the
resulting width was exactly the same as a 1x brick in width.... the new version
results in a total width that is exactly the same as a 1x brick in *height*....
Both very usefull, but alas, I have a very limited (and dwindling!) supply of the
older version of this piece. I used these facts to build the "Ghost" fighter at:
www1.etymon.com/kn/pallas/Products/ghost.html
This model is a good example of attaching piece male-to-male and
female-to-female... (all 8 of the 1/4 saucer sections are put together in this
unorthodox way)... I used technic 1/2 beams for the m-to-m and the above described
method for f-to-f. I also used quite a few of the 2x4x2 bricks w/ studs (or holes)
on 3 sides.
If the saucer sections ever get done, I'm planning to LDraw this model and put the
plans up.
