I'll take this opportunity to ask if others think the newer 8-tooth gears
slide on axles as if they were a worm gear (slight exaggeration). There is
very little friction to hold a 8-tooth in place. I am often sorting through
a pile of gears looking for a tight (old) one when I can not reinforce with
a full or half bushing. If find newer bricks are looser too... all but the
cross axle 1x2's, which pretty well cement themselves to any other piece
they are placed on.

| (...) I nevcer noticed this with the ones that came in my 8880 or mindstorms - that's all the newer technic I have, tho. :) I do find that worm gears nowadays slide on axles as if they were worm gears. I had one worm gear from before the Dark Ages, (...) (26 years ago, 17-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)
