Thu 14 Jan Auckland    22:35 Air New Zealand    2 13:45 Los Angeles
Thu 14 Jan Los Angeles 14:45 Air New Zealand    2 09:20 London
Fri 15 Jan London      10:35 British Airways  320 13:40 Oslo

Thu 28 Jan Oslo        19:50 Scandinavian    1511 21:00 London
Thu 28 Jan London      22:15 Singapore        321 18:55 Singapore
Fri 29 Jan Singapore   20:45 Air New Zealand 4285 11:15 Auckland • <snip>
The routing is actually AKL (Auckland), LAX (Los Angeles International),
LHR (London Heathrow), Oslo (OSL), LHR (London Heathrow), SIN
(Singapore), and AKL (Auckland).  Ignoring great circle routes, this is
probably an around the world routing.  Not having a globe handy, I think
the travel is always eastward.

sure is....jet streams.  though, trying to remember (ouch that hurts!),
i believe, starting at singapore, you fly into a jet stream first, then
it switches directions south of the equator.  My father twice made that
trip around the world, though he started/fininshed in rochester,
ny(ROC).  ROC-LHR-Frankfurt-SIN-AKL-LAX-CHI(Chicago)-ROC.  all he said
about it was, "that sucked!(1)(2)"

<snip>
The trip would cost Moz NZ$5432 or US$2858 (discounted coach fare).  And
would accrue 24,863 frequent flyer miles!
you get a bonus for going around the world..

(1) the first time he did it, the trip lasted 10 days (thats half
airtime!)
(2) but he did earn close to 75,000 miles for it (he flew business
class, more miles acrued)
