Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Scott Allison
Hey, does anyone have a use for beat-up lego elements? Badly scratched, bent or even broken? I thought someone might use them to build things that have crashed, robots that are damaged, etc....Just curious, and I'd rather give them to someone rather (...)         Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —John Gramley
(...) Great question! I used badly scratched and discolored bricks as filler and support in my easter eggs because there was no chance of them being seen. I have all of these "ugly"[1] bricks separated from what I usually use to build things so that (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Tom McDonald
(...) Well Scott, since I like making spaceships, I've been known to make a salvage vessel from time to time. So it usually needs something to salvage. Are you asking if I want them or if I use them? The answer is, yes and yes. -Tom McD. when (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Frank Filz
(...) Tom, how would you like to be the first stop for Jambalaya Junk Box #3? I pulled a bunch of distressed basic bricks and plates from JB#1, and could beef them up with my own pile of discolored bricks (close to a bucket full, though I will (...)          Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Sam Wiley
(...) Ugh! Hey, if you guys want broken/dirty bricks, I've got a quart or so of 'em. Definitely have no use for them, other than nostalgia. I can still pretty much remember which of my brothers broke which one when we were kids. ;-0 Sam Wiley (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Bryan Hodges
(...) Once I get settled into my new place I'm going to be cleaning and organizing my entire collection... I will be pulling out all of the pieces that are either discolored, broken, or have teeth marks (as a kid my little hands couldn't pull 'em (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Tom McDonald
(...) bent (...) salvage (...) Sure Frank, that'd be great. But I thought the J boxes were for putting in as good as you got? This kinda leads me to the question, Do I put in damaged pieces as I pull them out? :-) -Tom McD. when replying, (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —Craig Hamilton
(...) yes, i also have a bag of distressed bricks that i keep around for various things. one of my favorite simple schemes was to screw an eye hook into the short side of a red 2x4 brick. it's my keychain! i attatch a blue 2x4 and yellow 2x4 to the (...)         Re: Does anyone use "distressed" lego? —John J. Ladasky, Jr.
(...) Well, I have plans one of these days to make a LEGO garbage dump... I've been saving my damaged bricks for use as thematically-matched refuse. Smaller stuff makes for better trash. Unfortunately, in my experience the larger parts are the ones (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.build)
