Shaun, you need item # W779938 which is 36 conveyor belt links at $6.50 at
http://www.pitsco-legodacta.com/ :)In lugnet.build, Shaun Sullivan writes:

All right, I've been following this part with some curiosity ....

Where can you get these tank treads?  I looked at the LEGO Dacta link that • Larry
posted, and I'm not convinced that they are the same as the ones Carl used. • In
fact, I'm pretty sure they're not ... they don't have the wide plastic band • with
punched circular holes in them, and they don't have the central track that • fits a
24t gear perfectly.  Compare the two:

So, that being said, where else can you get the right type of tread?  I have • some
of them from who knows how long ago, but not NEARLY enough.  And I need • them ... :)

thanks in advance ...

:-p  Sorry!

Thank you very much though for counting.  Man, that's going to be expensive!
I figured I'd buy 10 sets just to be safe.  Approx. $60 will give me enough
for two tanks or so!

The guy that sits next to me at work is a big time scale modeler.  Does a • lot
of WWII diorama's.  I showed him your pics, and even he was amazed!  Lego
modeling will get it's due by the rest of the modeling world before we know • it!

Eric, You've made me sit here and count them!! On the Tiger there are 64 • links
on each side, however, the Challenger has 74. Obviously, different wheel
arangements will call for more or less links. Buying 200 links will give • you
enough deffy. "grin" the german insignia is self adhesive vinyl on the • turret
only. It is Lego on the body. I forgot to take the decal off for the
photographs..:)

Let me start out by saying that your models make me want to shelve my • castle
project!  Seeing your models, coupled with seeing Saving Private Ryan
recently, has given me some inspiration!

A couple of questions...

1) I know where to get the links you used for the tread, but how MANY • does it
take for each side?

2) How did you accomplish the German insignia on the tank?  Sometimes they
look like Lego, but in some pics they look like decals.

Great work!  The street scene is amazing...
