All right, I've been following this part with some curiosity ....
Where can you get these tank treads? I looked at the LEGO Dacta link that Larry
posted, and I'm not convinced that they are the same as the ones Carl used. In
fact, I'm pretty sure they're not ... they don't have the wide plastic band with
punched circular holes in them, and they don't have the central track that fits a
24t gear perfectly. Compare the two:

So, that being said, where else can you get the right type of tread? I have some
of them from who knows how long ago, but not NEARLY enough. And I need them ... :)
