In terms of numbers, somewhere around 1:38 to 1:44, depending on your
preference. Most people seem to use one of:
1 stud (8mm) = 1 minifig foot
3 studs (24mm) = 1 minifig meter
1 minifg (42mm) = 6 feet tall
But then again, many models are "Lego-ized"-- selectively compressed to 'look
cute' and still give an impression of being plausible. Like cars that are 4
studs wide, houses that couldn't possibly fit a stairwell or multiple rooms or
maybe floors that are barely tall enough for minifigs to stand up in. 6-wide
trains, as well, which aren't really *realistic* width-wise, but nevertheless
convey the model in a Lego-y sense.
Your best bet is as Lenny suggested-- talk to the LUG and find out if it's too
tall (or too short, but doesn't sound like it'd be a problem).
