Re: Any tips for building tall towers?

(...) ... (...) ... While not exactly what Patrick describes, I've built several towers mostly from 2x4 bricks, with an outer diameter of 8x8 and a 4x4 opening in the center. My application was to support half scale train signs about six or so feet (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-04, to lugnet.build)

Re: Another big house of my little town

(...) Andreas, Our house had a huge stack of old National Geographics when we moved in, and I was leafing through one from the 1960's which mentioned the World's Fair in Belgium, and showed a street scene much like your house, with four and five (...)   Re: Another big house of my little town

(...) SNIP (...) Andreas, This building is spectacular! I really enjoy seeing these detailed scenes, where builders include details of the streets, plazas, etc. The only problem is that each one I see inspires me to build my next town MOC at a (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Another big house of my little town

Hi Jonathan, (...) No, here you are wrong. It is the old dark grey color. May be, it was a little to much sun, when I took these photos. But I use the new color as well. For me, that is no problem. Andreas Böker (abhf) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Another big house of my little town

(...) I did enjoy it, you captured the ornate details on the facade well. Pity LEGO doesn't make terracotta roof tiles, the red looks too new, but what can we do :^) Plus LEGO has enough colours already (or so I'm told). I would have gone for a (...)   Re: new moc: rudolph and his friends

(...) You should have used Clikits for these :-) No, honnestly, they are nice. With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen. (21 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Another big house of my little town

(...) Hello! This is wonderful! I love all the details in the building and surrounding scene as well. Love the fence around the park. Really like the trams as well. Looks like you used the new dark grey color on the roof of the trams and it works (...) (21 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: new moc: holly berry wreath

(...) A very nice kick off to the holidays it is, as well as your reindeer ornaments. I would think this MOC would be worth the needed tweaking to get it to be more stable so you could use it again next year, of course, who would be willing to put (...)   Re: Another big house of my little town

Hi Larry, thanks for your reply and your compliments. (...) The tram is built after a plan and should be a little shorter rather then smaller. But this a good compromise, in my opinion. (...) The building is tan and light-yellow coloured, The tiles (...) (21 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

In lugnet.announce.moc, Andreas Böker wrote: (another jawdropper) Wow, that's cool... the front is very ornate, really captures the real thing nicely. And those trams are great, even if they are a trifle (ahem) wide. :) Are those tiles white or tan? (...) (21 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: new moc: holly berry wreath

(...) C'est magnifique. I'm jealous of your foliage parts. A Lego wreath is much better than a questionably-smelling real one. Being a sucker for pretty, ridiculouly fragile things as I am, I just can't get enough of this. Happy Holidays, Kevin (21 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Any tips for building tall towers?

(...) I've always wondered about building a tower using just 4 2X4 bricks per level arranged in a way that there's a 2X2 opening in the center that would serve as a shaft as you go upward. Once the tower reaches its final height, top it off with a (...) (21 years ago, 19-Dec-04, to lugnet.build)

Any tips for building tall towers?

I'm working on a module for the Great Ball Contraption, but this involves having a lot of stuff elevated way up off the plate. At the same time, I don't have a ton of bricks -- I'm a newbie to the AFOL world. So, I need to build some supporting (...) (21 years ago, 18-Dec-04, to lugnet.build)
