Re: Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

(...) Perhaps you could have a SNOT Technique on the sides. You could maybe use hinges for the curves or layered plates and tiles. (22 years ago, 6-Oct-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.arch)

Re: Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

(...) Thanks, Ross! I much appreciate the links. Those are some beautiful bridges.. They've given me a few ideas, but my main problems are still related to achieving a realistic look at such a small scale. I've thought of building in curves with the (...)   Re: Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

(...) Jordan, You might want to check out Adrian Egli's bridge studies at (URL) they are much larger than the scale you're looking at, you may get some ideas. There are several nice bridge examples there, including a couple of curved ones: (URL) (22 years ago, 5-Oct-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.arch)

Building viaducts with curves and bank angle.

I've been experimenting with building elevated highways, and have several questions pertaining to such. I wanted to build on a scale of about 3 meters/stud, but I don't think that's an adequate resolution if I want to put in realistic curves, anyone (...)   How do you do this? Doors and roofs?

1: DOORS Working with the 6105 doors, (URL) , I do not want to have the bricks 90 degrees on as normally, but in a line - so the door is fixed in the middle of the stud, not close to the wall. This requires some very odd offset from the wall (wall - (...) (22 years ago, 4-Oct-04, to lugnet.build)

  Echo Base Entrance

The (URL) main entrance to Echo Base> is zealously guarded by the rebel troopers. Rotating shifts of infantry scouts are sent on reconnaisance patrols to scout for any signs of Imperial activity within the active perimeter of the base. A tauntaun (...)   Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

I was checking these pics out last night. This is a great build and a huge success. Great job. BTW, I think the images of the build in progress are great. Thank you. e (22 years ago, 30-Sep-04, to lugnet.build)

Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) I designed it specifically to support the upper walls - each of the various ever-smaller stories above the main part of the building has columns supporting the walls all the way down to the ground. We used rubber mallets to pound on the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

(...) Really sharp all the way around.Really enjoy the top sphere. The level of detail is great not only floor level(or face of building) but roof edges as well(something I need to work on in my buildings).Great job guys!! Chris MichLTC (22 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) As we were building it, we would tell people the internal structure is to prevent the walls from going ( ) , as well as keeping all the floors straight and level. Since this model will probably be moved around between different Mayo Clinic (...) (22 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) Very nice! Well done, all. Excellent design. Few questions: The internal support structure: Bearing in mind that I have never built anything of this size: I would have never thought to include this. Was it needed? Why? To support the various (...) (22 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) Thanks for the compliments, Bill. Very kind considering you're a former model builder! We went for "Miniland detail in minifig scale", I think it worked out well. The Doby torsos were the only modified pieces on the model, I used some (...) (22 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Pictures of the completed GMLTC Plummer Building model

(...) Thanks, Larry! The real building has oodles and oodles of tile work and stone carving - while we were building it we joked that Dr. Henry Plummer (the architect) must have brought in every stone carver in a 500 mile radius! You can see some of (...) (22 years ago, 29-Sep-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)
