| | I got some red roof bricks from S@H and as I was trying to build a (small) roof structure, and noticed that there is not a brick that will turn a corner at the ridge of a hip roof (or gabled roof for that matter). There is also not a brick that will (...) (25 years ago, 16-May-99, to lugnet.build)

| | | | there is a turn corner gable brick. if you want tee or cross you can also use the brick that is like a 1 x 2 gable brick with a slope on the end. this fits against another slope and you can use that. (25 years ago, 16-May-99, to lugnet.build)

| | | | Thanks for the tips! I have it all figured out now. Something so simple as LEGO bricks can bring such complicated solutions. Well, it's simple really. Sometimes the simple things are the hardest to see. I suppose that is why we build! Build On! (and (...) (25 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.build)

| | | | This (and a "rarest piece" thread in lugnet.general) reminds me of a rare sloped brick piece that I'm sure some of you who have any 1960's LEGO will recognize, and that is a 2x2 regular sloped apex (peak) brick that instead of an "I" ridge line has (...) | | | | (...) My red roof pieces come in two kinds of plastic: the ones I had as a kid in the 60s are slightly translucent and the moulding is marginally less crisp. The newer ones I bought for my daughter about 1990 are a more opaque red plastic. I just (...) (25 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.build)

| | | | (...) Kevin, The earlier pieces that you describe (a hint of orange in the red color) are made of Cellulose Acetate. That was the plastic that LEGO used in the early years. Unfortunately it has a tendancy to warp. I have many examples of early LEGO (...) (25 years ago, 19-May-99, to lugnet.build)

| | | | (...) Yep. Most of my old red roof bricks have warped, especially the 2x4x2 ones, they give a sort of scalloped efffect to the edge of a roof <g>. (...) Could be. At this point it's hard to remember, but I don't think we bought any roof bricks (...) (25 years ago, 19-May-99, to lugnet.build)
