My red roof pieces come in two kinds of plastic: the ones I had as a kid
in the 60s are slightly translucent and the moulding is marginally less
crisp. The newer ones I bought for my daughter about 1990 are a more
opaque red plastic. I just pulled out my "red edges and corners" bag and
I have 4 of these L-apexes. Here's the weird bit though: three are the
old 60's plastic, and one is the new plastic and must have been bought
in 1990! Are you sure they were discontinued that early, Gary?

| (...) Kevin, The earlier pieces that you describe (a hint of orange in the red color) are made of Cellulose Acetate. That was the plastic that LEGO used in the early years. Unfortunately it has a tendancy to warp. I have many examples of early LEGO (...) (26 years ago, 19-May-99, to lugnet.build)

| This (and a "rarest piece" thread in lugnet.general) reminds me of a rare sloped brick piece that I'm sure some of you who have any 1960's LEGO will recognize, and that is a 2x2 regular sloped apex (peak) brick that instead of an "I" ridge line has (...) (26 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.build)
